This is interesting, of course I had to do the test. Our dryer is 25 yrs old and has had the heating element changed out about 6 yrs ago. Prior to that time I had used dryer sheets exclusively. During that same time period I switched over to liquid fabric softener (use it in the Downy ball) just because I preferred the softness it provided vs. the dryer sheets. I've used nothing else since then. Well - now for the test results. The water ran right thru the filter material, so I'm guessing liquid softener doesn't build up the film you're talking about. Thanks for the info, it was nice of you to share!!
