Anything printed on paper may be counterfeited, including Cashiers Checks and money orders. With a Cashiers check you may contact the issuing bank to verify it's legitimacy, with a money order you might have to wait til it would clear all channels. Now, as far as presenting the item to your bank for collection, regardless of whether you deposit or get it cashed, if the item is found to be counterfeit, it will be charged back to your account.
