Mines sniffs it, but doesn't eat it, he waits till the ducks use it outside, then he's sniffing their poop. So I watch him carefully, but I've never seen him eat it. I may try the coins in the can trick if he get's out of line. Right now if he's misbehaving, I take a fly squatter and hit the wall and he takes off running.
