I'm a new Yorkie mommy and had the same question. I learned about Belly Bands from a YT comment. I researched the web and found ideas on making them myself since I sew. I tried several styles and finally created my own which works perfectly for my boy. I don't have to strap it on real tight and it stays in place catching everything. I love belly bands as now my furboy can have freedom. I still take it off periodically and put him in his exercise pen which is set up in the central room of the house with a tarp underneath. He will usually do his business on the paper while in the pen or at least near it..LOL! This way I don't have to pick up tootsie rolls anywhere other than his pen. I always pick it up and trash it after he goes otherwise he will eventually walk in it...yuck! Most recently he has found it entertaining to tear his paper in shreads so sometimes he gets his business on the tarp but at least it isn't on the floor. I still continue to try to paper train him but prepared to keep him in belly bands the rest of his life if necessary. I just make his bands with contrasting fabric to match his little vests I dress him in. I think he is rather handsome that way! You'll love belly bands!
