I am not a breeder, yet but I plan to have my first litter next year. I have done alot of research and will continue to keep doing so. I thought alot about this and I will go with the breeding one cycle, off the next. I feel this gives them a good break. Dogs are pregnant for 63 to 65 days and the puppies will be kept until they are 12 weeks old. So that is 5 months that the mom has to endure the puppies and for her no be bred again in a month or two, I just feel that is not enough of a break. I feel that the breed one cycle off the next cycle is the best way and is best for the dam. JMO |
