I have an epidural NIGHTMARE!!! My water broke at 3:14 in the afternoon. I arrived at the hospital at about 4:00 and I was not in pain. I was told that I was having contractions but I wasn't feeling them at all. At about 8:00 that night I started to really hurt. I had dialated to about 4-5cm and it was time for my long awaited epidural. After the anesthesiologist stuck the needle in my back in 5 (yes 5) different spots he told me that he was having a hard time because "I have SKINNY Bones". I am thinking to myself. WHY ME? He finally got the epidural in place and left the room. He told me that it would take no longer than 15 minutes to take. My bestfriend, who had just had her baby 1 month prior walked into the room after about 30 minutes and I was still able to move my legs and she thought that maybe it didn't take. I told my nurse that I was still feeling contractions and she called the anesthesiologist back into the room. He gave me another dosage and left the room. Through the rest of the night I endured the most horrific pain imaginable. I delivered my daughter at 9:14a.m the next morning. I had to have an episiotomy and I felt that. And I felt every stitch it took to stitch me back together. Get this....When it was time for me to get up to void (urine) I couldn't feel my legs. How insane is that. The anesthesiologist said that the baby was probably laying against a nerve that was needed to stop the pain. There is my Horror Story, just thought I'd share it!
