It will make it look thicker but that will not prevent it from getting thin again. What you must do is find out why the coat is thin.

You may be breaking it while brushing it. Brush only lightly sprayed hair as it has almost 50% more elasticity. Use the proper brush, and do not lift your hand up while brushing let the brush follow through to the ends of the hair.

Your dog may be breaking coat on the carpet or just by playing.

Check to make sure your dog is not scratching at the coat.
