I'd go for the drugs. When I had mine, there weren't that many options but I can tell you it hurt like heck and if I had to do it over again, I'd take anything they offered that wouldn't hurt the baby. My son was over 9# and his head came out squashed like a flattened volleyball. All I could think was "No wonder it hurt so bad". I walked the floor that night waiting for his head to shape up. Thank goodness it did! I see no need for pain if you can avoid it.
