I would definitely confine the new pup, regardless of the age, to a small cage or a room which you can search for possible problems. Bad habits are hard to break, a cage will keep them from chewing on walls and baseboards as well as furniture. This can ensure safety for your new baby.

I am home, but mine play like mad for an hour or so in the morning, sleep and hang around most of the day, and have another wild rambunctious time in the evening. Just be careful not to leave them bored.
