God bless you and your family. This same exact thing happened to my cousin, Robert ... except it wasn't the beach. He dove into his in-ground pool at his parents house. It happened almost 6 years ago and he still isn't walking. He did (thank god) get feeling in his upper body back (neck, hands, etc.) but he cannot move his lower body.
