Sorry to hear about your new baby girls troubles. I have had experiance with a broken leg. My little guy broke his when he was 6 months old on the growth plate. He was in the cast for 8 wks. I let him do as he normally did. A little extra attention, but could not give all attention to him where I have to other furbabies in the house. I did not allow him to jump up and down of the furniture or the bed. I would pick him up and then put him down. He would actually run on his broken leg in the cast. He was a hard one to keep down. He had to have his cast changed twice. Just because the doctor wanted to make sure after the swelling went down that the cast fit right. But he did his everyday activities as normal as we could make it for him.
Hope this helps. And he was done with pain meds after a few days. Took nothing else for pain.
