We adopted a retired "showgirl" about 6 weeks ago. She took a flying leap off the end of our bed on Monday night and broke her radius and ulna. We rushed her to the emergency vet where they kept her for a couple of hours and splinted it. Showed us the x-rays and said that it is minimally displaced and will probably heal okay in about 6 to 8 weeks. We have an appointment to see our vet on Monday. She has been on a daily a NSAID to keep inflammation down, etc. and seems to be doing all right, but we are still VERY concerned. Our other little guy just can't figure out what is going on and is so very jealous of the attention she is getting. Just wondering if anyone has any input in how to deal with a broken leg. The ER vet said that some doctors want to put pins in, but she didn't really think our little one needed that and we decided not to put her through surgery, etc. Any experiences any of you have encountered would be interesting to hear.
