I got a kitten from a pet store years ago - it had an eye infection and the store told me that I could have it free - and use the money to clear up its eye. Which I did. The eye was totally fine in only a day or two (with just some over-the-counter drops) - and this cat was a wonderful pet for more than 10 years.
But then - you never know - do you!
