I am so glad you at least got two pups out safely, but most of all - glad Mom is fine. Fluid on the lungs at this point could mean a heart problem or a cleft in the palate. When the poster said syringe they didn't mean the medicine giving syringe or a needle syringe without the needle - the one you need is made for taking boogers out of a baby's noses.
Try shaking down the puppy, also called swinging the puppy - Support the baby's head and neck, hold him stomach down just above your head and swing him down in between your spread knees making sure nothing is in your way you could hit on the way down - the centrifugal force gravity will help remove fluids from the lungs and then you can use the bulb aspirator (syringe) by squeezing all the air out of the bulb and then placing in his mouth and releasing to suck out any fluids, then repeat on each nostril. You can do this several times, but it may be more than simply fluid in the lungs. Do you see any milk coming out of his nostrils while nursing? This puppy needs to be watched very closely. |
