Hello and I am new to this site and looking for any info that may help my dogs. I have 3 Yorkies with shunt disease (one without) and their ages are 2yrs, 1yr, and 8 mos. (My healthy dog is 7). They are living with the disease and of course are on speacial diets, feeding schedules, and meds. They have never been finicky about their food and in fact love to take their lactalose right out of the syringe like it's candy (ssshhhh dont tell them it's not please

and it works out well. However the past four days or so they just wont eat dog food with or without special treats hidden inside. I have had to force feed my little one (Yummy is her name) as she is still having a lot of difficulties and is in and out of the vet just this week. Today I got some ground turkey and cooked that up and mixed in some white rice. SHe loved it and ate it. My other baby KiaOra, the one year old also ate real good finally. Pearl who is the 2 year old ate a mixture of dog food and rice and turkey. Okay just thought I would give you a back ground of things before my question here...sorry to run long. With shunt disease I know its risky to feed a high protien diet to the dogs. Is the turkey and rice okay. If they dont eat they wont thrive and I havnt much to lose at that point but I just want to make sure Im doing the right thing. Our Vet is supberb and knows the situation and basically says do what makes them happy as long as they are still alive. I just want to make sure this isnt going to make it worse. ANy thoughts would be greatly appreciated and Thank You in advace!!!!
