Help the children, Help the pets!
Okay, has most of you know (or maybe not), my daughter and I are in several youth groups (posted not too long ago in Off Topics looking for group and community service project ideas)....
Anyway, I had bought a bed, cushion type pillow thing at a local craft fair for Mojo (the blue camo one in some of his pictures). Anyway, I got w/ the man who made these and he came to one of our group meetings to show the kids how to make them.
The kids picked out the fabric, 4 of the older ones (w/ help from a few mom volunteers) did the sewing. ---okay, they may not all have straight seams, but boy, did the older kids learn alot.
These were going to be donated to our local animal shelter for the cats or small doggies....even to go home w/ the puppies if wanted. They are
machine washable and the animal shelter seemed glad to have them.....BUT when we called again for a date to bring them, the lady said that they were not accepting donations at the time, unless it was $$ donations! AURGH!!! I didn't understand and explained that they were already approved, but she insisted that they had several groups earning community service projects, etc and they are stocked up and would not have room for storing the pillows until they were needed.....yes, this sounds crazy and yes, we were alittle upset, but we are thinking of the dogs and the children are needing some community service involvement......SO>>>>>>>>>>>
We are going to try to sale them and donate the money to the shelter.
We are asking $10 (really cheap for these snuggly beds)...that is $7 for the actual bed w/ $3 for shipping.
Mojo has 3 (one we bought at the craft fair, one the kids made for him and one that isn't "stuffed" yet). He loves them all!!! He has one on the desk (where he is sleeping now) and one in the bedroom. --The other, will go in the living room.
They measure about 20x20 and have two different designs on each side. Machine Washable. Middle is stitched w/ very little padding to make a "hole" where they can snuggle in.
I am listing a few (okay, several) and we have a few more that they kids have to finish stuffing.....if they don't want them, we will post more to earn more money to help w/ their community service involvement.......they made those fleece blankets (thanks Villette for that idea) and gave them to nursey home and one homeless shelter right before Thanksgiving!
Pictures will be posted next........
If interested, please PM or post here. I take PayPal, but will wait for MO too.
Thanks!
