I think it would not take very long to empty out a car with several people helping. Also you get use to the dogs barking when you pull up to a gas station or resturant - they see people and bark - typical. The handler should have made sure he could see the car, but maybe parking was no where near the grass. He may not have locked to door, since he thought he would not be gone long. I have seen myself first hand some show people not being very careful - you get busy and don't think that anyone would steal a dog. How many time have you been to a show and seen dogs on the table, in pens, or in crates, with no sign of owners/handlers? I have at every show. I just do not think this was made up. JMO It does teach me a lesson - never ever to ever leave my dogs alone or unattended at a show or in route.
