My puppy is 5 months+. I live in a condo so I am not able to do the inch by inch thing. What I do is he was paper trained by the time he came. His breeder used newspaper and I never changed it because I do not want to fix what is not broken
. I just say good pee pee or good poo poo when he does it. When we go out, I bring his favourite treats along and make sure he sees me putting them in to the bag. When we are outside, I say "go pee" or "go poo". When he has pee/poo then, he will go and followed by his treat afterwards. Its not consistent but again, I only walk him once a day to the park so other than that, he uses the paper at home.
