Pinch and hold for a minute or two before cutting - dull scissors will work, but tearing is better if you can, the more "unclean the cut - jagged" the better because it will stop the bleeding. You could always just pinch it about one inch and see if Mom will chew it off. I let mine eat one placenta because I feel it stimulates milk production, but any more gives them diarrhea.

That bulge is really big - keep her walking as much as possible in case the baby is hung up and needs repositioning.
