I wouldn't worry about 97.7 at all, if it went much below 97 I probably would, but have never had that happen.
I would keep Dad in another room. My Dad wants nothing to do with the puppies, he is afraid of them until they are about 7 or 8 weeks old so he never gets too close, just watches from a distance. If he was a human he would definitely be one of those in the waiting room - not assisting Mom! You'll have your hands full without having to worry about a third party. You should also have a separate area set up with a heating pad to put the puppies in between deliveries. I let Mom clean them up, place them on a nipple (if time permits), but as soon as she has another contraction the puppies come out so we can focus on the one being born. If she doesn't want to whelp in the box don't worry about that - the more free access you have to her the better. You can move them all in after it's over.
I'll be really surprised if you don't have puppies sometime today (or tonight). |
