Liver shunt, no not to my knowledge. I have had two failure to thrive puppies who just never did well and died at 10 weeks. Both very small. I had an autospy done of ones liver and heart and they found nothing. His death went unexplained. He died at the Er vet when they infused him with fluid, his glucose was 38 by the time I got him there. He had nutra drops karo syrup, and I couldnt get him to come out of it. And he was never as small as this puppy at this age. The other puppy born at another time, died before I could get her to the vet, and at that time, I didnt get testing as I should because I was really green and new. So Im not sure if she had liver shunt or not. COuld have been.
Well this puppy is small, not really skinny, but not as plump as his litter mates. ANd size wise there is a big difference in length too.
He is doing okay, no signs of sickness right now, but he is just way to small.
