Yeah, you really have to experiment to see what works best for you and your dog. Eddie (9 pounds) and Jack (4 pounds) have far different needs. Eddie is fine in a wool sweater or any kind of fleece. Jack needs something to cut the wind, so either polar fleece or a combination of fleece under and nylon over works best for him. It's the booties that will make the biggest difference. Simple is better. I find the easier they are to put on, the more apt I am to go to the trouble and the more the pups seem to tolerate them.
