We are located in the mountains here in Calif. our winter nights get quite cold and we do get the snow, our home is very well insulated. I would say at 68 that would be comfortable for us. Have you tried using a humidifier, we do and it seems to help. When I use the wood stove always have a kettle with water on top. Insultation is really beneficial, we use the a/c in summer and it doesn't come on a lot cause once the house is cooled down it usually stays comfortable, we are thankful that we did insulate so well.
