When you are thinking it could be a food allergy (of course, it could be something on your grass, flea bites, a cleaner your mopping with, etc., or just something in the air) you put the dog on a protein he hasn't been exposed to - so if they have never had lamb it is just as good as trying duck. They can't develop an allergy to something they haven't been exposed to. Some will go on to "create" an allergy in time against the lamb and then you will move on to another source of protein like duck. The carbohydrate (rice, oatmeal, potatoe) should also be a "new" one for your dog when going through testing. The new diet should be fed for 12 weeks with no treats, if no response then most likely it is not a food allergy or some other obscure ingredient further down the list.
