As early as you'd like.
If you use a shampoo, I'd use something w/o soap in it, like maybe Tropiclean.
The shampoo is coconut based and therefore is especially safe to use on your puppies or kittens.
Otherwise, if you're just needing to spot clean them, baby wipes and a warm clean damp rag are a god send!
