When Peanut started exhibiting this wonderful behavior, I used Bitter Apple spray and it curbed the problem almost immediately. He went over to the wall just after I sprayed it, gave it a lick, and never touched it again! I have used this spray on several items with great results, including the corner of the couch, the wall, and any electrical cords within his reach (and those just outside it!). Its really simple to use - just point and spray.
