When Loki was 3 months old he could barely hold it 30 minutes, so it varies for every dog. It wasn't until he was 6-7 months old that we could leave him, in his crate, for 2 hours. By a year we could leave him 4 hours. Now I can leave him 6 but I try to limit it to 4. I crate him when we are not home.

For the first year we rotated staying home with him or we took him with. If my husband had long meetings I would This was obviously easier once he was completely housetrained. He loves his car seat and we would take him on errands and one of us would sit in the car with him while the other ran in the stores he was not allowed in. Now we can both go out to eat or whatever and leave him.
