I would always recommend a second and possibly a third opinion when it comes to any major condition or illness. Some vets are more knowledgeable than others about certain thing and it would obviously be best to go to a specialist who will know what is best for your dog. One of my dogs has a slight LP in one leg but he said almost all puppies have less stabel kneecapsand that they sometimes get betterwith age so she said we should just keep an eye on it at this point.
Luxating patellas are another ocdition that is common with yorkies and can occur even when there has been no LP in the parents or their ancesters. There is no test that can be done including DNA, so it is not something that breeders can prevent. |
