My vet said to give my new little Yorkie cottage cheese before he went to bed at night. He said it has a lot of protein and would stick with him better - and both of us would get a better night's sleep.
So - I gave it to him - he loved it - and he slept all night (with me) from the get-go.
I only gave it to him at night - and let him eat all he wanted --which really was very much because he was so little.....but he sure liked it.
