Question Good question

I am looking at information on that now too -- I have a male puppy I might want to breed. I was reading up on what that decision may mean. What I am reading is.... un-neutered males are more inclined to mark. If you neuter a male before he starts the marking habit, he will be less likely to do it but it is not fool-proof. A puppy should be neutered before one year if you are going to so as to lessen the liklihood of marking habits. Some will mark no matter what. Males used for stud are also said to be more inclined to mark. Again -- just what I am reading.

I am not liking this as it is sounding almost inevitable that a male used for breeding is going to mark. I will be looking forward to hearing experiences from the YT members -- this is weighing on my mind as Ben is a pet first and I would hate to make housetraining impossible.

But who knows -- I have an older female dachshund that has been spayed and still marks a little whenever we have houseguests or a new dog comes into the home. She will especially start doing it in the house when a baby is around. I guess she just wants everyone to know this is her house.
