Hi as everyone indicating here, AKC does not register their breeders. For breeders in the US to register their kennel name, they have to have 5 champions first that they bred and got the titles on AKC.
In Canada, we are different. We can join the Canadian Kennel Club, pay the annual fee to be a member, we get cheaper registration fees etc than non members. But that doesn't verify a reputable breeder as anyone can be a member until they get caught breaking the rules and eventually can be suspended.
So, it still boils down to being careful and screening that you are dealing with someone ethical regardless of their claims, it is up to you to discern whether or not they are. |
