The breeder does not register themself with the AKC...it's the dogs/pups that they have that are registered. If you question a breeder on the registry status of their pups, they should tell you. If ever in doubt, ask to see the AKC puppy registration papers.

Now, if you're talking about an AKC registered kennel name, I can't help you there because I only have 2 dogs and not a kennel.

AKC is all about keeping records. They do some inspections but what they are looking for is if the breeder has kept correct records. AKC doesn't care how many dogs a breeder has or the living condition of the dogs.
