I have to agree that an hour is probably too long for our little pups.

As far as being spooked - dogs are funny. They, apparently, are very superstitious. The leaves were blowing when pup stepped on something sharp, therefore leaves are scary (they might hurt your paw). Mom was looking the other way and jerked just a little too hard on the leash at the same time the tape was blowing. Therefore, there is no telling what Mom might do to you when trash is blowing. You get the idea.

In other words, you may never know what spooks your pup. As a general rule, though, I'm told it's best to "jolly them along" and not pick them up and molly-coddle them.
