We adopted Lucky a few months ago just before her second birthday and all that she did was bite...to play, to get our attention, to get her way, etc. We tried shaker cans, bitter apple, a spray bottle, and nothing seemed to work. Then, my husband accidentally discovered that she hates it when we blow in her face. When she would bite, we started saying a firm "no bite" and blowing a puff of air into her face after we said it. Eventually (we're talking over a month), she caught on and now we usually only need to say a firm "no bite!" If she keeps biting, instead of removing our hands, we actually keep doing what we were doing and keeps saying "no bite" each time she tries. After she stops, we wait a few seconds and then give her lots of praise. She has gradually improved and we are so much happier with her. |
