Unfortunately, if you let her keep 'Rob' then everytime you have a litter she'll think it's ok to keep one. It'll be hard but you'll have to do your best to reason with her because it'll be better for her in the long run.

My suggestion is after he's gone to spend a special day with her to take her mind off of it(the day he goes to his new family). A kid movie at the theater, a little gift...and reassure her that there are lots of people out there who don't have a puppy dog to love.

A pet is not a toy and as much as a child is in love with it eventually after it's pooping and peeing and has to be taken care of, they lose interest. Trust me on this.

Christmas is fast approaching with all that activity it'll be easier to take her mind off of finding forever homes for the little ones.
