IMO a 1 hour walk is to long for him at his age. Better would be 3 walks at 20 minutes. He also needs to discover his environment and learn that things are not as dangerous as he thinks or feels. He needs plenty of encouragement with time to get used to a thing, sound or smell. Mitzi is 9 y.o. and still gets scared easily. We moved from an appartment in the city to a house in a remote area with a big fenced in back yard. We are living here for over 1 1/2 years now and now she slowly starts to go around in the back yard by herself. Before she used to sit at the door shaking and looking miserable with this 'mommie pleeeeeaaaase don't make me go there' - look. Give him time and lotsa love and he will get braver....
