 Last DHLPP shot, allergic?
Howie will be getting his last set of shots in a few weeks. The Vet recommended we do his rabies shot seperately because they say most small dogs are allergic to the "L" part in the last shot. I forgot what she said it was. But, she said it was a preventative shot for some kind of liver disease. I was wondering if most yorkie owners have experienced any allergic reaction to the last set of their shots.
I asked the front desk why they would administer the shot if they know most small dogs are allergic to it (especially because she said there is only a very small number of dogs that do get that liver disease). She said the Vet will determine that day if he should have that part of the shot or not, but I'd like some input beforehand. I asked what they'd do if he does have a reaction and she just aid, bring him in and we'll give him something so the swelling will go down. That doesn't comfort me at all. Plus, not to mention the extra expenses.
