Since Stedman is FULLY house broken now, when we leave him, he gets free run of the house. However...if we are going out of town, or if we will be gone for most of the day, we enclose him in the hall (all the doors shut, with the entry to the living room blocked) because we don't want to leave him cooped up in the x-pen all day since he wouldn't have all that much room to walk around, play with his toys, etc....not to mention I can put his bed and food and water in the hall no problem. Every once and a while when we I leave him during the day I will put him in his x-pen....for example if he is REALLY hyper that day or something...and I am afraid that he is going to get too wild while I'm gone and jump up on the very top of the couch and fall off back behind it and break his leg or something. I think about this all the time because he DOES jump up there and it freaks me out EVERY TIME!
