Keegan was 6 monthes old when Roxie joined us at 18 monthes old. She mothered him at first and than they became the best of friends. You never saw one without the other. Roxie's pups were 5 weeks old when Keegan got hit. When we brought him home for burial, she wouldn't leave the little packet alone so I opened it up so that we could all see him and say goodbye. I had hoped that it would help her to understand that he was gone and wouldn't be back. She went into a serious depression. She spent most of her time under the bed hiding and refused to stay with her pups. We introduced solid food to the pups and I made her nurse a bit in the mornings and evenings so that she wouldn't get too uncomfortable. I felt like I had lost them both, she no longer followed me around or sat with me. We got Connor 2 weeks later and the change seemed to help her snap out of it. No one can ever replace Keegan but my Remi has a sparkle in her eyes once more and that means everything to me.
