Training is the BEST! I love working with my dogs. I think it's one of the best experiences you can have with your dog.

Before I paid any money I'd ask the people what their experience training terriers is - terriers are a whole different kettle of fish to training working dogs - like GSDs.

I'd also recommend you find a trainer that uses positive training methods - that is only praising the good behaviour (usually with some kind of treat) and ignoring the undesired behaviour. Rather than punishing bad behaviour.

My first training course involved yanking dougal around with the leash to teach him heel. It was definitely NOT the way to teach him. We do agility now and I think we are doing quite well. I use a toy to train Dougal. WHen he's done the behaviour I want he gets to play with the toy with me - and that's how we NAILED the weave.

Patience is the watch word with terriers - you gotta keep it fun and positive. Lots of short sharp bursts of training to keep their interest. Once you've done something five times they're bored and want to go do something else!

Whoa ! Sorry for the long post.
