It's hard with some coats to keep them matt free - My best advise is keep him very clean. That cuts down on tangling alot - also - don't keep clothes on him all the time - & use a good conditioner on his hair & once done - rinse really well.

Some leave on products will make tangles worse if you go too long between baths so clean hair helps alot. I use very little 'leave on' stuff because I found they dry the hair and they seem to attract dirt - but also do love one product for Chanel who tangles more than Cheri - it's Sea Breeze oil by Plush Puppy....

There is also a Spray on called Johnsons No More Tangles for real kids and all the stores that sell baby products usually carry it - and it's only about 5 $ ...A groomer I went to a long time ago swore by it for getting out knots...and it does.

ps...if he's that matted - you may want to start fresh and just give him a nice short cut - then just make sure he gets brushed everyday as it grows - he'll be happier and so will you -
