From what I understand, the Yorkie coat is very similar to human hair. That said, they do still have a doggie's skin, so one must be very careful what they use on these pups. The key, my groomer informed me, is RINSE RINSE RINSE! Making sure that everything is rinsed away is very important. You can use high-end, quality human shampoos and conditioners on Yorkies, something that's moisturizing. Using baby shampoo on their faces helps to ensure that their eyes don't get irritated, also. I'd always used human products on Starr and she never had any itching, and her coat was gorgeous. Rinsing well is the ultimate key, though.

Try the Matrix and then watch for any skin reaction. If there is none, then it'll be fine to use. I liked to use the Bath and Body works Moisturizing shampoos and conditioners on Starr, cuz they smelled so good.
