Primarily in South Dakota - sometimes called the Badlands and that is where Mt. Rushmore is and the Crazyhorse (I think) memorial. It's is a beautiful/wonderful area of the country.
Location of Sturgis, ND (of motorcycle fame), Deadwood (HBO series) and the 1876 gold rush in the Black Hills.
