Our older dog is around 16lbs, but needs to drop around 3lbs. She went on a special dog food for allergies and it put weight on her! Our vet said we could stop in as well, but he's about 20-25 away and it seemed convenient to have a scale at home.
The postal scale or a large food scale with a box on it might work. I checked Babies R Us and they don't even sell baby scales!
