Brookef18...I hope you and others don't get offended - anyone who HAS bought from a pet store and has a healthy dog is lucky and I'm very happy for you ! Truly....I understand why someone would buy a puppy from them -
but in the bigger scheme of things... it's really good to have internet information about the reality of the Pet Stores because not all people are as lucky as you.....I personally know 3 different people in REAL life who bought at a pet store (1 of them bought a puppy at a Flea Market) - ALL 3 lost the puppies to parvo....THREE sales - three deaths.
Pet Stores really are huge buyers from mills. It's just a fact the mills ship puppies all over the country. One of my pet peeves is Pet Land - now that's a totally heartless pet store and one I wish would be banned from selling dogs altogether....
IF we had better laws I think maybe people wouldn't be so passionate ....but we don't, so we're stuck with just trying to boycott/warn about the dangers of purchasing a dog at a pet store - not only do people pay big bucks for small breed dogs - the medical history is
very questionable - not to mention the mom back at the mill who is totally forgotten
but for those who have a happy healthy dog there's nothing to be ashamed of - We all learn as we go & You have an adorable little guy....
Back when my husband bought Tessa for me - he went to the place he got his 1st 2 cockers and little did I know 12 years ago - I was in a PUPPY MILL

so I've been there....I so remember how fast I ran out of there with her ...especially when there was talk of putting her down because of her underbite. All I can say is the smell and the noise of all those puppies in a row had me crying .....I could HEAR them in my sleep for months after. There is nothing - and I mean NOTHING acceptable about mass breeding and the conditions of most mills - which is where Pet Stores buy the dogs....
So these threads aren't aimed to those who bought from them - it's just a way to TRY to educate the public before they buy ...how that cute puppy ended up in a pet store...
