As the previous posters stated it can and will bring out underlining issues. This is from personal experience. I use to cut a family's hair who were gypsies.
They marry in the family. They believe that it is wrong to marry outside of the gypsy bloodline. They marry 2nd cousins and had never experienced any birthdefects. Until my client had her sons. They were all born deaf. That is heartbreaking.
