I had a friend named Patty---we spent a lot of time together for a short period of time--from about 1989 to 1993. Then our lives took different directions and we lost touch with each other. I thought about her now and then, but as time passed I thought about her less and less.
By last year, I had not seen her for 12 years or so, and I had NOT EVEN THOUGHT ABOUT HER for about 5 years. Then, one day I was walking through my living room, I looked at my couch, and I imagined (?) her sitting there smiling. I said out loud to myself "I wonder how Patty is doing and where she is?"
The 2 days later I read her obituary in the paper. She had moved from Maine (where I was) to Colorado many years before. She died of cancer at age 46 at about the same time that I thought of her sitting on my couch. |
