 Here's the plot to DEXTER.
Ok, so not much takers but here is the main plot.
The main character, Dexter, was adopted into a police detective's family. As Dex grew older, the dad saw something odd in him and later found out Dex had an uncontrollable urge to kill people.
So the dad, seeing that Dex will not change and is headed for a life as a serial killer, started to give Dex names of the most henious killers who got off scott free in trials due to technicalities.
Now to the present, Dex is now himself a police detective and he continues to kill criminals. He has a sister who is also a detective at the same department and she is investigating a serial killer who could be Dex.
