ok first off , let me tell you, max will be 5 months old november the 11th.I have been working with him on crate training, ( went really well with my boston) well, max freaks out lately, he screams scratches the crate door, and he poops all over the place in there!! like explosive poop. almost like he is traumatized. he wasnt in a crate at the breeders or my aunts house and seemed to do fine the first few times he was in there, i kept him in for about 20 min at a time. so thats my first problem.. should i keep trying? should i get a playpen? the crate is small, just enough room for him to stand, turn around and lay down. im just scared he is traumatizing himself in there. now my second problem is this: last night,max jumped off the bed, i cant have him running all over the house b/c he gets into so much stuff lately, so i get up to get him, and he runs away from me like im playing a game, i tried ignoring him getting down to his level, and calling him, getting a treat, everything,this went on for about 25 min, him running like mad around the house and me trying to catch him. i have never ever been mean to max, never raised my voice, nothing, and it wasnt like he was scared, he was playing, and actually it made me mad.. i cant stand when a dog runs from you instead of coming when called. ive been working with him on training, sit, come, stay ect. baby steps for now.. i just dont know what to do, he is so dang stubborn, and its recently, not like he has been this way. then i have the 3rd problem.. he is still pooping in the house. he was doing fine going outside until it rained and his schedule got all of course, he pees outside all day, never a accident there,but he continues to poop in the house, and not always on the pad either, we stil have two pads in the house since he is still learning, and at first he would go outside or use the pad, then he got the peeing outside down. i so frustrated i dont know what to do. im almost in tears just thinking about it.. training my boston wasnt this hard, but i did have my ups and downs, but it seems max is so much more stubborn. i really need some advice guys i dont know what to do, i want to be able to help him, b/c i know he would be so much happier once he catches onto all of this, and i want the peace of mind knowing im doing whats best for him.. any advice is greatly appreciated!!!
Welcome to the wonderful world of Yorkies!! they can be little stinkers! Terriers have a different temperment than other dogs...pretty much they do what they want, when they want, where they want!
I do have a baby playpen for Lillie...she is 5 months old (I used this for Sadie too when she was a puppy) I usually only put her in it if I am going out. She has everything in there that she needs..This way I know she is safe and can't get into anything.
