 Trust your Male!
From my experience your male will recieve signals from scent...when
the time is right...that is when they are VERY excited and will almost
anything (climb chain link, eat threw crates, etc) to get to the ripe
female. I recently went thru a similar experience...counted the days
and put my two together...Casanova didnt give her a second glance,
next day same thing...he wasnt proven so I thought something was
wrong with him...took her to a proven male who gave her a few licks
and snifs then took a nap! with her right there! I brought her home
with great disapointment...then to my surprise...the next day my
little Casanova lived up to his name! MY MY he became a TIGER and
well let me say he tied with her that day...cried for her to get out of
her crate the next 24 hours and then tied again, then my daugher let
Polly out to go pottie and he ran out the door with her and they tied
again. To make a long story short...they tied about 8 times in 4 days.
Polly is due Nov 9-14 and is heavy with babies.
To answer your question...yes, trust your male, he cant count! but he sure
can smell...that's why he is focused (for lack of better term).
